Equestrianism refers to the skill of riding or driving horses. This includes both use of horses for practical working purposes as well as recreational activities and competitive sports. Michael specializes in Western riding but provides lessons to any student in English or Western discipline. Though English and Western riding appear different, they are quite similar. Both styles require riders to have a solid seat, with the hips and shoulders balanced over the feet, with hands independent of the seat so as to avoid disturbing the balance of the horse and interfering with its performance.
Youth (age 5 and up) and adult are welcome to take riding lessons. Private and group lessons are available. Lessons are available all year long in any season. Lessons are conducted in an indoor riding arena which provides a safe and enclosed area while providing cover from harsh weather. Helmets are provided and must be worn during the lesson. Students are instructed about horses, equipment safety, riding techniques and confirmation. Depending on your circumstances, Michael can be available to attend another horse barn or your own horse barn to provide lessons with your own horse.
