“A little neglect may breed mischief...for want of a nail, the shoe was lost; for want of a shoe, the horse was lost; and for want of a horse, the rider was lost.” - Benjamin Franklin

Michael is available for horseshoeing and focuses his skill toward shoeing saddle horses and standardbred race horses. As well, he sells horseshoes for a variety of horses and horse disciplines.
A horseshoer (farrier) specializes in equine hoof care which includes trimming and balancing of a horse’s hoof in order to fit shoes to their foot. A horseshoer’s routine work is primary hoof trimming and shoeing. In ordinary cases, it is important to trim each hoof so that it retains its proper orientation to the ground. If the horse has a heavy workload, works on abrasive ground, needs additional traction, or has pathological changes in the foot, then shoes may be required. As well, horses with injured/diseased hooves or horses requiring special shoes for racing, training, or riding may require special remedial procedures and special shoes. Hooves have to be kept trimmed back or their growth makes them frail or uneven. Proper hoof care for horses is as important as wearing properly fitting shoes is for humans. It is an important part of keeping your horse healthy.
Please contact Michael about having your horse shod, have questions, or would like to purchase shoes.
